My research explores how the brain controls visual attention — why we notice some things and miss others, how we keep track of information in a busy world, and what makes some people more easily distracted than others.

My research regularly recruits volunteers to take part in psychology and neuroscience studies at LJMU. Studies typically involve completing computer-based tasks while we record brain activity using EEG — a safe, non-invasive technique that measures the electrical signals your brain produces.

Sessions are held on campus in central Liverpool and usually last between 1–2 hours. Participants receive shopping vouchers for their time.

If you'd like to hear about upcoming studies, get in touch or register via the LJMU Psychology participant panel.
